John Cassidy - Sculptor

This site celebrates the life and work of sculptor John Cassidy (1860 - 1939).

The work illustrated here, a bronze  statue 93cm high, including a 10cm green marble base, is from the private collection of the late Beryl Louise Tweed, of Marple, Cheshire.

It is signed 'John Cassidy Sclp[?]. 1905' but we know nothing else about it, even its title.

We suspect it might be one of an edition of several: if you recognise the subject, or can add anything, please get in touch at the the address below.

The hair styling seems reminiscent of something just outside the reach of our memory... one of Alma-Tadema's Roman bath scenes, perhaps?
